Plant Dog is celebrating the 10th anniversary of their award-winning Orbee-Tuff Orbee Ball with a special, limited edition anniversary line of the dog toy and contest.

The anniversary orbee balls are available in three color combinations: the retro, best-selling lake/glass orbee, red and teal and silver and pink. We got to check them out last month during the Global Pet Expo.

The new combinations were chosen after soliciting ideas from Planet Dog employees.  Rebekah Roy, Planet Dog’s front of house, and Linda McKinley, sales pack leader, submitted the winning color combinations.

In addition, Planet Dog is hosting a “I Love My Orbee So Much Story” contest to mark the popular dog toy’s anniversary for the chance to win a customized dog bed from L.L. Bean and a variety of Planet Dog products.

To enter, submit a story along with a photo or video on Planet Dog’s Facebook page, as well as the name and location of your favorite place to buy Planet Dog products.

One winning story is chosen each week to become a semi-finalist. The page’s Facebook fans will then vote on a grand prize winner from the 10 semi-finalists. The contest run through May 30.

I happen to really like Planet Dog.

My first experience with the company was less than a month into having Toby, when my best friend and I went to Portland, Maine because I was attending a Society of Professional Journalists’ regional convention.

I remember leaving one of the events, seeing the Planet Dog sign and getting totally lost in their store for hours, simply because I was a new pet owner and this, well, was heaven.

Needless to say, Toby got a ton of stuffed and non-stuffed toys, squeaky toys, organic dog treats, handmade treats, leashes, collars… well, you get it.

Plus, two percent of each purchase is donated to the Planet Dog Foundation. What’s not to love about that!
