PetKind’s Fur+Body Dog Shampoo & Conditioner Review & Giveaway

Love, love, love! Have I mentioned how much I love this dog shampoo? 😉

I swore I would never be that dog owner who bought specialty-store shampoo for my dog, and I would absolutely not be that person who used a shampoo and conditioner on him.

And then, I used PetKind’s Fur+Body orange citrus shampoo and conditioner, and quickly found myself on their website looking for a local store that sold it.

I first learned of their products during the Global Pet Expo in March. Their colorful display immediately caught my attention, and what initially got me interested was their salmon treats. (which by the way Toby loves) Then, when we started talking about their shampoo and conditioner products, and they gave me several samples to try.

My initial reaction, I have to admit, was really? A special shampoo and conditioner for dogs. That’s crazy. After all, growing up my mom always used Johnson’s baby shampoo on my dog. There was never any fancy dog shampoo in our house.

A few weeks ago I tried the shampoo and conditioner and was incredibly impressed — as was everyone who held and petted Toby for several week after. He was so, so soft! My aunt picked him up a week after I washed him and commented to me how his fur didn’t feel bristly. She had no clue I tried the new shampoo.

Despite all the kayaking he does, Toby is not a fan of water.

I always towel-dry Toby. His short hair makes the whole experience pretty easy.

In addition to his fur being softer, I also noticed he wasn’t scratching as much and really wasn’t shedding anywhere near the amount he normally does.

I typically don’t use many scented products, because I’m allergic to everything (really — thank goodness for allergy shots!) and smells tend to bother me, but this the Fur+Body didn’t leave any odor. And, who can not love the saying on the back of the bottle — “Wash Me. Rinse Me. Love Me” — how adorable?!

So, here’s the fun part  —  we’re giving away a sample of the shampoo and conditioner they gave us. They are two small bottles like the ones above, perfect for travel.

  1. I have an Irish setter and since he is also a show dog he gets lots of baths. By me. 🙂 I have been rying to find a shampoo and conditioner that gives the results you mention. And believe me I have tried a number of them. Both people and doggie. So far I haven't found one I am thrilled with. I would love to try the samples.

  2. I bathe all 3 of my dogs myself in the bathtub. My largest dog is 90 pounds and my smallest is 10. I have tried some dog shampoos, but haven't really been impressed with any of them, so I usually just use people shampoo/conditioner on my dogs.

  3. Milele goes to the groomer because her fur is so dense and she has to get dry or she gets an infection. I don't have the dryers that my groomer does.

I take Kouga to the do it yourself dog wash, that way there is little mess and since the tubs are off the ground I don't have to bend over.

For the dogs that come into our rescue group we bathe them ourselves. My husband rigged up a hose attachment to the washer so I can make the water a comfortable temperature. This attachment can go anywhere so I take it with me for the bathing parties. This shampoo and conditioner would be donate to the rescue group.

  4. I currently bathe Lupin and Scout with a combination Shampoo/Conditioner. Scout is like Toby, not a fan of water. Lupin doesn't care. He's a Yorkiepoo and his fur is a bt hi maintenance. Thanks for sharing!

  5. I bring Nikki into the shower with me and suds her up with some fancy shampoo and conditioner that my brother gave me…it's ok but I wouldn't buy it. I actually "squeege" her down and put some conditioner all over and leave it on to make her fur softer. She isn't a fan of the process, but her dad is always waiting outside the shower door with warm towels, belly rubs, and for the finale: treats!

  6. I usually bath my puppy at least once a month. But during the summer months I take him to the groomers about every 6-7 weeks. During the winter months he gets groomed more often because I keep his hair longer. My pup won't let me go anywhere near him with scissors. – Jin Hee

  7. My babies George and Gracie are brushed daily, since they are Cavaliers this is a must. They do visit the groomer for the full treatment maybe every two months, but for the most part Mommy does most of the grooming, I think it's like a spa treatment for them has one will line up after the other for their turn when the brush comes out.
