Petfinder’s Adopt-a-Less-Adoptable-Pet Week Sept. 17-25

We all know them, or maybe we don’t. Sometimes they’re deaf, other times they’re blind. Maybe they’re dark in color, or maybe they have a disability. Or, they’re *gasp* the “O” word — Old. They are all, however, the pets who are least likely to get adopted.

Yes, discrimination even exists when it comes to people picking pets to bring into their families, and Petfinder is bringing awareness to the issue by showcasing a host of animals people might consider less adoptable during their Adopt-a-Less-Adoptable-Pet-Week.

These pets, featured in a 450 photo gallery on Petfinder’s website, are just as adoptable as the next, but are less likely to get adopted. That’s 450 pets that are being discriminated against for reasons beyond their control.

Each day during Adopt-a-Less-Adoptable-Pet-Week, we will feature at least one of the less adoptable pets.

Today, meet Pretty Patches — a 2-year-old spayed dog who was rescued from a high kill shelter. Although she has a long scar down her back that appears to be from a burn, Patches is very friendly.

Learn more about her on Petfinder’s website, and see the full gallery of Less-Adoptable-Pets.

  1. Aww, what a cutie!! What some find less adoptable are really some of my favourites. People are silly. I value personality and character above "perfect looks" and youth. And really, I'm over the potty-training, shoe chewing, crazy puppy stuff 🙂
