A few Saturdays ago I needed to be in the Adirondacks by noon. It was a hard deadline, because I had an important appointment. For those of you not familiar with the trek, it takes about 3.5 hours depending on traffic. But, since I always allow at least 4 hours just to make sure, I was up way early packing, because of course I didn’t do it the night before.

Toby, however, was snuggled in my bed, and would not get up. Every time I tried to wake him up, he would bury himself deeper in the covers. Finally, when the car was packed and basically the only thing left to go was Toby, I said in a stern voice, “Toby, Let’s Go.” And then this popped up from the covers.
