Since Toby was a puppy every single dog bed I’ve bought him he’s torn all the stuffing out of and basically ruined it. This habit of his is why I never buy him dog beds — they’re usually destroyed within minutes of giving one to him.
Recently, I thought we had turned a corner. When Toby hurt his leg a few weeks ago — and has been on crate rest ever since — I dug out a dog bed I bought on sale about two years ago and put it in his crate, covering it with blankets. It was soft and cushy, and Toby was loving it!
Until tonight when I walked in the living and found this:
Yup, all that green … it’s stuffing from the bed.
I have been in the same position many times. And that is why we have the same rule, "no dog beds". Lola can have all the blankets she wants but no beds.
We buy large cheap ones from Costco

Our dogs love their dog beds… especially that great big king size one we sleep in…
I never tear my bed up Toby…but it is mom's big, queen sized, soft and comfy bed! I know better!!!! BOL!!

Ugh! TOBEEEEEE! I'm lucky, Cosmo LOVES his beds. We have one in every room of the house, almost. He also thinks the top of the sofa is his dog bed too… and my bed, and the stuffed chairs…

Ha! Yup, Toby thinks the only bed that's his is my bed, or the couch. I don't think he's ever slept on the floor a day in his life. Although he will sleep on the front porch when the sun is hitting it.
Arie will chew up a bed, but not the couch or my mattress. We now put a big comfy comforter in her crate–She has only chewed it open once, and I was able to sew it back shut in a second. Maybe try one of those for Toby?
Believe it or not, he chews them, too. Including the one on my bed. There's one blanket that he *loves* which has more chewed holes than fabric I think. Come to think of it, I should really take a photo and post it here.
Billy Is exactly the same. Every single Pet bed destroyed!!! Fleece type blankets chewed up with holes in them. He sleeps wherever he wants, mainly my lap ,bed or sofa.
Wow! Oliver once licked a spot that had gotten kong filling on it until it went right through to a hole. I stitched it up and that was the end of it. Thank goodness he's not "destructor". He likes to root in his bedding, and sometimes will tear a cheaper fabric, but nothing like this. Does Toby enjoy filled, frozen Kongs?
Tanner is unusually careful with his beds, which is uncommon with Retrievers, who are known to be chewers. We keep him very active and mentally stimulated to prevent chewing and it seems to work well. It's a good thing because big dog beds can be very expensive!
