Westminster Fever

Forget Fashion Week, the big story in New York City right now is the Westminster Kennel Club’s annual dog show. Walk out of Penn Station and you’ll see a sea of dogs — big ones, little ones, medium size ones.

There’s also tons of other events around the main show, including last night’s Pre-Westminster Fashion show featuring a Venetian Masquerade Pet Fashion Theme by designer Ada Nieves.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t make last night’s event, but we did get to see some of our favorite pet people, and meet new ones, last night at a dinner sponsored by Greenies and hosted by Charlotte Reed.

It was  a small group of writers, at least one vet and other pet industry professionals, which led to honest and informative conversations about all things pets.

Having never been to Westminster before, I randomly bought a ticket the day of and went last year. It was pretty neat how a general admission ticket allows you to go “back stage” and see the dogs getting ready, chat with some of the owners and take as many photos as you want.

I’m not sure if I’ll be going this year, but if I do, I will live tweet from there like last year, so make sure you’re following us!

Have you ever been to Westminster? What was your favorite part of the experience?
