October's Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog Month Has Even More Meaning This Year

This year Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month has taken on new meaning in our family, because, well, I adopted a shelter dog.
As you know, a week ago we brought Maddux home for a trial with Toby. All went well, and by Sunday morning Toby had a newly adopted baby brother.

While I usually stay out of the pet store dog vs. adoption debate, I wanted to post about this, because I wanted to bring attention to the millions of pets that do not have homes, and just as importantly, the fabulous work many rescue organizations, like the place where I got Moddux from, does. They give so much of their lives to help these pets — whether they are dogs, cats, turtles or horses.
Of course, in the interest of full disclosure, and because I am always honest with our readers, Toby is a pet store dog. I have all his breeder’s information and know exactly where he came from.
So, cheers to Maddux for finding a home during the special Adopt-A-Shelter-Dog Month! I am sure happy I took him home.
