Chicken Apple Honey Oat Meatballs Dog Training Treats

Making your own homemade dog training treats are so easy and in my opinion, a much healthier treat for your dog than some other options.

If your dogs are like mine, they will get bored of the same old treats so to mix it up I tend to make a variety of different meatball-style teats.

Toby and Maddux liked these, but Bear absolutely loved them. When we were having a difficult time getting him to do “down,” these did the trick. He went nuts for them. I think I could have asked him to stand on his head and he would have!

Chicken Apple Honey Oat Meatball Dog Training Treats

by Michelle Maskaly, My Tail Hurts From Wagging So Much

1/2 pound ground chicken

1/2 cup oat flour

1 small apple, diced

2 teaspoons honey

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix until well blended. Using your hands, roll into small to medium sized meatballs. Place on a broiler pan (or baking sheet) and bake for about 15 to 20 minutes or until cooked.

Remove from the pans and let cook completely before using as treats.

Refrigerate up to a week or place in the freezer for later use.

Notes:

  • I make a large batch and then freeze most of them. I take them out of the freezer the morning before my evening class.
  • You can cut the meatballs into multiple tiny pieces that are good for training.

Enjoy!
