Hundreds of Rescued Pit Bulls Euthanized

A lack of rehabilitation facilities is why about 300 pit bulls are being euthanized in the Philippines, after they were rescued from separate raids of dog fighting rings over the weekend, the New York Daily News reported.

Eight South Koreans were arrested for allegedly running an illegal online gambling operation where players from outside the Philippines would bet on dog fights, police said.

Anna Cabrera, of the Philippine Animal Welfare Society, told The Associated Press, some of the dogs involved in the latest raid were “recycles” — adopted and then sold back to the suspects who allegedly continued to use the dogs in fights.
